I found this story about Tom Cruise supporting an anti-drug group in New Zealand. This happened when he was filming The Last Samuri in that country a few years ago:

Drug-Free Ambassadors, a Scientology drug-education and prevention group active in New Zealand for three years, received a letter from Tom Cruise, in New Zealand shooting a film, saying he was inspired by reading about the group’s dedication to educating young people about drugs. Drug-Free Ambassadors ...'"
